Nelson's Journey Smiles Awards 2015 with ABC Taxis Ltd

It was a pleasure to be invited to attend the Nelson's Journey Smiles Awards 2015 by ABC Taxis Ltd.

Nelson's Journey is a charity that supports bereaved children and young people. ABC Taxis was nominated for a "Best in-kind Support Award" as each month they provide a number of taxi journeys free of charge for the charity to transport children and young people to various support events.

Simon Callender, Director ABC Taxis, is pictured with one of their environmentally-friendly cars which carries the Nelson's Journey brand.

Written the handbook? Now make the film!

At US2U Consulting we are firm believers in continual professional development and recently exhibited at the Norfolk CIPD conference. The theme for the stand was 'employee engagement' with the main focus on our ability to produce high quality films that improve business communication.

US2U Consulting Goes Global

Rachel Blackburn and John Miller from US2U Consulting spent a fascinating evening at the University of East Anglia (UEA) listening to how UK businesses should consider expanding into overseas markets.

Talks from China-Britain Business Council, UK-India Business Council, Japan External and Internal Trade Organisations and UK Trade and Investment were interesting and highlighted the scope of opportunities beyond the UK. US2U Consulting has supported businesses in a range of international locations.

Throughout the afternoon he encouraged more small and medium sized businesses to export goods and services to assist with the UK's economic development.

US2U Consulting goes back to school

Being an active part of the community is extremely important to US2U Consulting and recently we've been helping year 11 students at Sprowston High School in Norwich, Norfolk to experience what a job interview feels like.

Part of the 'Inspiring the Future' initiative (, this is designed to prepare them for the workplace and provides a great opportunity to put into practice their skills and knowledge of what it takes to secure a job in today's competitive employment market.

"It's tough to get a job when you first leave education so having the ability to impress a prospective employer in an interview is a must" said John Miller, Director of US2U Consulting.

Feedback from the students has said how much they learnt from the experience even if it was (in their words) "terrifying and exciting"!

Norwich for Jobs Two Year Birthday Celebration

US2U Consulting were pleased to attend the celebration when Chloe Smith MP told the gathering that since Norwich For Jobs was launched in January 2013, the city’s 18 to 24 jobless total had dropped from 2,030 to 755 and 1,681 young people had found work as a result of opportunities pledged by employers supporting the campaign.

During this time US2U Consulting have employed two paid graduate interns who have both gone on to secure permanent employment in line with their aspirations.

Time Management at the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce

Rachel Blackburn provided a talk, Be Better at Time Management, at the Norfolk Chamber on Thursday 18 December. Delegates really enjoyed the session and gained a lot from it, providing the following comments:

"The energy and content really added value."

"Rachel is a really good presenter."

"I took away great content to 1) learn to say no and 2) set some work/home goals."

Going up in the World with Red Balloon

US2U Consulting was pleased to support local charity Red Balloon Learner Centres with their Christmas fundraising event in Norwich. It was an excellent event, and for the second year running Rachel Blackburn read a poem she had written, titled Some Personal Reflections from 2014.

The aim of Red Balloon is the recovery of bullied children. They provide an 'intensive care' full-time education for children aged between 9-18 who are unable to go to school because they have suffered trauma, such as the death of a parent, abuse, rape or some other experience which makes them particularly vulnerable. At least half of the students they take have attempted or seriously considered suicide.
