  • Birthday Celebrations Continue at Norfolk CIPD Conference

During US2U Consulting’s 8th birthday week, we were pleased to support the Norfolk Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Conference. In addition to having a stand complete with birthday cake and balloons, Rachel Blackburn delivered three seminars focusing on developing Influencing Skills.

“It was great to work with so many people from the local HR community and I believe that I have been able to pass on practical tools to help develop influencing skills which should make a positive impact on so many organisations across Norfolk ” said Rachel.

  • Celebrating 4 Years...

TA93.jpgWe are pleased to have completed 4 years of working with our clients and 'achieving success together'.

Thank you to all clients, colleagues and suppliers who have supported us during this time and we look forward to continued success!

  • Floating on Success

We were graced with blue skies as we project managed the ABC Taxis float at the Lord Mayor's Procession in Norwich 2012.

The theme was the Olympics and there was excellent teamwork all round!

It was great to have a football goal donated by Harrod UK, an official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games supplier.

"On behalf of all here at ABC, I want to say thank you for your hard work, time and effort that you put into the Lord Mayor's Procession. The day was a huge success and boosted our company and image to a wide range of the general public. The weather stayed dry and feedback was great; everyone had a fantastic time and it was nice to see the team making such an effort." Simon Callender, Director ABC Taxis Ltd.

  • Inspiring a Generation at Norwich Cathedral

Rachel and Kerwin Blackburn attended the "When I Grow Up" careers exhibition at Norwich Cathedral on Tuesday 15 December, aimed at providing inspirational careers advice to over 500 children from the Harleston schools in Norfolk.

The event featured around 80 organisations from a variety of sectors, and we were pleased to be featured within the "something a little bit different" section!

As part of our display we featured several of our clients to convey the benefits of becoming a Management Consultant, including fresh produce from Worldwide Fruit and G's Fresh, and an ABC Taxis recruitment film.

Unsurprisingly, however, Wayne Rooney's signed, match-worn football boots managed to steal the show, with many of the 7-13 year old crowd taking 'boot selfies' and vowing not to wash their hands again after holding them!

Emma Johnson, the schools' Cluster Coordinator, said "Thank you for bringing so many great activities and goodies for the children and sharing your passion for the jobs you do. The feedback from teachers and pupils has been so positive."

  • Make It Your Business

We are pleased to announce that Rachel Blackburn has been asked to be the local Champion of Make It Your Business - a nationwide initiative to encourage and support women to start their own business. It was founded in 2017 by Alison Cork, a London-based entrepreneur, writer and broadcaster, with the aim of supporting and encouraging women throughout the UK to start their own business.

Events are run all over the country, where women can meet established local female entrepreneurs, learn from their experiences and network with other local aspiring female entrepreneurs, in a relaxed and enabling environment. The organisation focuses on collaboration and has also established an online chat forum, where any woman can ask any question about enterprise.

  • Managing Your HR Career with CIPD

Rachel Blackburn and Shaun Walton were delighted to exhibit at the recent Norfolk CIPD event 'Managing Your HR Career' held at the Oaklands Hotel in Norwich.

With 10 exhibitors and around 70 visitors to the show, the evening was a great success.

A series of three presentations were delivered that focused on the speakers' careers in HR to date as well as offering handy career hints and tips.

"It's always great to have a presence at these sorts of shows. They often prove to be of real benefit as a hub for business, networking and picking up on useful information," said Rachel.

We were pleased to support their first Purple Dinner and Dance and assist with them raising over £4000. Carol Plunkett, Funding and Marketing Officer for Nelsons Journey saidThank you again for your support in the provision of auction items.

  • The Great Outdoors

the-great-outdoorsThe sky was blue and the sun was shining as we delivered an outdoor teambuilding session for one of our clients.

After tailoring the day to match the exact needs we arrived with whistles, blindfolds, eggs to mention just a few things. Everyone involved enjoyed the day immensely, thought it was a very positive experience and it has strengthened relationships in the team.

  • The Marquee Event of the Summer

Rachel Blackburn and guests attended the 2012 Norwich School Ball and took the opportunity to promote US2U Consulting and ABC Taxis, a client of the company.

  • US2U Consulting goes back to school

Being an active part of the community is extremely important to US2U Consulting and recently we've been helping year 11 students at Sprowston High School in Norwich, Norfolk to experience what a job interview feels like.

Part of the 'Inspiring the Future' initiative (http://www.inspiringthefuture.org), this is designed to prepare them for the workplace and provides a great opportunity to put into practice their skills and knowledge of what it takes to secure a job in today's competitive employment market.

"It's tough to get a job when you first leave education so having the ability to impress a prospective employer in an interview is a must" said John Miller, Director of US2U Consulting.

Feedback from the students has said how much they learnt from the experience even if it was (in their words) "terrifying and exciting"!

  • US2U Consulting Support the British Red Cross

US2U Consulting were pleased to make a donation to the British Red Cross to enable them to purchase two new wheelchairs for their Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk mobility services.

The wheelchairs will be provided, alongside various other forms of mobility aids, to those in need across the East of England, with the goal of getting people more active.

"Thank you so much to US2U Consulting for donating the money towards the wheelchairs. This money will be incredibly helpful in allowing us to continue providing great service to people across the East of England. We provide various mobility aids to over 50 people each week in Norfolk alone and it is great to see businesses in the region supporting us in our goal of getting people in need more mobile and active." Said Paul Fleet, Senior Community Fundraiser (pictured alongside Rachel and Kerwin Blackburn).

Rachel Blackburn commented, "we are really happy and excited to be supporting the work of the British Red Cross in Norfolk. They are one of the world's most renowned and recognised charities and we are sure the wheelchairs we have bought for them will help as many people as possible."
