  • A New Intern Joins US2U Consulting

    a-new-intern-joins-us2u-consultingWe have recently joined forces with the University of East Anglia (UEA) to recruit a new marketing coordinator as part of the UEA’s internship programme.

    We believe that employing an intern will be mutually beneficial by assisting with the progression of the business and nurturing upcoming talent.

    Shaun Walton, a BA (Hons) graduate has joined the US2U Consulting team on a 12 week internship which will give him the opportunity to experience working for a busy consultancy firm.

    He will support the director with tasks relating to public relations and direct marketing.

  • Celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week 2017 with the University of East Anglia

    Rachel Blackburn was pleased to be the first speaker for the new Consulting Society at UEA on Monday 13 November.

    Around 30 enthusiastic students attended to learn about US2U Consulting, how Rachel got into the consultancy sector, the pros and cons of running a consultancy business and the key learning points from her career.

    The evening started with the launch of the US2U Consulting Positive Difference music track which set the scene regarding some of the services we deliver for clients and also the energy required to be an effective consultant!

  • City College Norwich Graduation Ceremony 2019

    Rachel Blackburn was pleased to be invited to attend this memorable and spectacular event at Norwich Cathedral on Saturday 19 October.

    City College Norwich is an Associate College of the University of East Anglia. It was positive to see so many people achieve success.

    In particular our congratulations are offered to Katarzyna Izabela Mydlik on being presented with the HE Student of the Year Award, pictured with Rachel.

    Rachel said "Having been a mentor for Kasia back in 2016, it was great to see how she has worked to achieve success in challenging circumstances and we wish her all the best for the future".

  • Developing For The Future

    We have built on our recent developments by hiring a Marketing Coordinator to take on some of the responsibilities within the office.

    US2U Consulting will benefit from the extra manpower and ideas at this time, as well as helping to inspire a young graduate beginning his career.

    Stuart Taylor, a BA (Hons) graduate of the University of East Anglia has joined the US2U Consulting team to gain experience working in a busy consultancy firm and is relishing the opportunity to get involved in all areas of the business.

    Stuart will provide support to the team as they continue to deliver a wide range of services.

  • Driving International Success

    As part of US2U Consulting's international development initiatives, Rachel Blackburn was pleased to support the University of East Anglia with their work with the Saudi Arabian Petroleum company Aramco. Rachel's brief was to work with over 50 talented individuals to develop team working and leadership behaviours.

    Alex Cole, International Programmes manager for UEA said "The session was a great success, with participants commenting on the excellent delivery and the enhancement of their skills and knowledge in team working throughout the day, and we will be pleased to work together with US2U on similar projects."

  • Engineering the Engineering in Norfolk

    Rachel Blackburn organised for a number of our Norfolk clients to attend an open morning to view the facilities of the new School of Engineering at the University of East Anglia on Friday 25 March. This was a joint initiative between the UEA, Productivity East and The Norfolk Chamber of Commerce to promote good collaborative relationships with Norfolk-based engineering businesses to strengthen the learning, innovation and economic impact of world class engineering in the area.

    Rachel is pictured with David Morgan, CEO of Hethel Engineering-based ETA Green Power. David said "at ETA Green Power we develop game-changing high density Electric Drive Systems to support the Off Highway sector in accelerating electrification and support emission reductions. We are passionate about enabling our clients to improve electification productivity whilst reducing costs and maximising performance for a sustainable future. We are expanding rapidly so are keen to develop collaborative partnerships."

  • Exploring the Fruits of our Labour Market at The Enterprise Centre

    Both Kerwin Blackburn and Lee Casey attended a talk organised by Chadwicks Ltd on Tuesday 18 July at the University of East Anglia's Enterprise Centre, about 'How Millennials are Reshaping our World'.

    The talk covered long-term socio-economic trends and their implications for both businesses and investors and the effects of population change on global labour markets. It also highlighted how Millennials, born between 1980 and 2000, have shifting priorities that require businesses to adapt their products and services.

    The session provided interesting insights into what businesses need to prioritise in order to increase productivity and keep up in the rapidly growing knowledge economy. The three main avenues stressed upon were the importance of education, constructive technology and urbanisation.

    The changing expectations of so called 'Digital Natives' were also discussed, as it is known that Millennials now value interactive and user-friendly digital environments, reflecting the value of having a bespoke US2U Consulting-produced Commercial Video.

  • Intern Jess Connolly Shares Her US2U Consulting Experiences

    Earlier in 2023, Business Management student Jess Connolly joined US2U Consulting as a Marketing Coordinator & Client Services Intern, working across several client projects and US2U Consulting initiatives.

    Jess is currently in the final year of her degree at the University of East Anglia - at US2U Consulting we are proud to support and offer work experience opportunities to people considering Management Consultancy as a career.

    We recently caught up with Jess to hear from her about her experiences being part of the US2U team in Spring 2023 - and what she is able to take back and apply to her studies and future career from her time with us. Watch this below!

  • Keynote Speaking at the Aramco Summer Conference

    Rachel Blackburn was pleased to be a keynote speaker at the Aramco Summer Conference 2015 at the University of East Anglia.

    Her keynote speech focused on Making the Most of Networking for a Successful and Fulfilling Career, and was delivered to delegates from Aramco, Saudi Arabia, amongst others.

    She was joined by Michael Rooney, Fundraising Manager for BREAK charity, who explained the importance of the GoGoDragons project in Norwich as part of the fundraising for his charity, which supports vulnerable children, young people and families across East Anglia.

  • Pitch Perfect at The Enterprise Centre

    Rachel and Kerwin Blackburn of US2U Consulting visited the University of East Anglia's Enterprise Centre on Friday 5 May to attend 'Pitch Perfect: Ready to Pitch?'.

    This Dragons' Den-style event gave the pair the chance to hear UEA startups and entrepreneurs pitch their companies and ideas as part of a panel of potential investors, offering feedback and other business advice as part of the process.

    The diverse range of products and startups featured provided interesting insights into some of the outlooks and challenges facing entrepreneurial students at the UK's 12th-ranked university.

    Companies pitching included hyperSlate, Assemble, Grabbit, Future Max Careers and Cooknst.

  • Prize for Enterprise!

    Rachel Blackburn was a judge at the University of East Anglia's Young Enterprise final at the Enterprise Centre, where she and the other judges had to determine which of their companies would progress to the national final in London.

    The companies pitched their products and fielded questions from the panel of judges, who were particularly impressed by eventual winners Tritiki and their range of blended teas aimed at students.

    "It was great to see such enthusiasm and passion for their products from the young entrepreneurs!" said Rachel.

    The event also coincided with Rachel's day of filming for an Open University MOOC (Meet, Greet and Get Ready to Tweet!), meaning the deliberation amongst the judges could be set to feature in the final cut - we will keep you posted!

  • Rachel Blackburn Discusses The Export Journey

    Rachel Blackburn was the keynote speaker at a joint Barclays Business and Department of International Trade talk held at the University of East Anglia's Enterprise Centre on Wednesday 1 March.

    Delivering a talk on US2U Consulting's Export Journey since the company was established in 2006, Rachel discussed the motivations for and benefits of exporting the company's services, as well as how US2U Consulting overcame some of the key challenges and obstacles.

    Her tips on exporting services were particularly insightful and complementary to the advice regarding the export of physical goods, as covered by the other speakers on the day. These included International Trade Advisor from the Department of International Trade, Leszek Wysocki, who commented that many business will benefit from exploring the idea of exporting overseas.

  • Transformational Leadership at Worldwide Fruit

    US2U Consulting spent the day at Worldwide Fruit in Spalding with delegates from Saudi Arabia, studying in the UK for undergraduate degrees and attending an overseas leadership conference. This is being delivered in partnership with the University of East Anglia on behalf of Aramco Overseas UK, the UK arm of Saudi Arabian oil company Saudi Aramco.

    Geared towards exploring the implementation of Transformational Leadership within organisations, the visit comprised of a factory tour and presentations from Worldwide Fruit HR Director Trish McCarron along with other colleagues.

    "It was great to get positive feedback from the delegates who have gained an insight into how to manage positive change" said Rachel Blackburn.

  • UEA School of History Ranks First!

    Congratulations to US2U Consulting client UEA School of History for ranking first for overall satisfaction at the University of East Anglia in this year's National Student Survey.

    What's more, however, is that the School of History also placed joint first nationally in the subject area and received 100% in overall satisfaction!

    The School of History's performance tops off another year of impressive results for UEA - whose overall joint third position out of English mainstream universities cements its title as the only university to achieve top-five ranking every year since the survey began in 2005.

    Reflecting on the National Student Survey results, which measured student satisfaction across a number of areas including teaching, academic support and university resources and management, Head of UEA School of History, Professor Cathie Carmichael (pictured), said, "thank you for the part US2U Consulting played in this moment of triumph!"

  • UEA Voted the Best for Student Satisfaction

    US2U Consulting client, the University of East Anglia, has been ranked the number one university in Britain for student satisfaction in The Times' Student Experience Survey 2013.

    The Survey, comprising of 21 measures including teaching quality, accomodation and social life, saw the UEA commended for its small group teaching and campus community.

    Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Nigel Norris said, "Our commitment to providing a gold-plated student experience is long-standing and ingrained".

  • US2U Consulting adds to the Ranks with Summer Intern

    US2U Consulting has added Lee Casey to the team, who joins us as a paid Summer Intern.

    Having completed the second year of his degree in BSc Psychology at the University of East Anglia, Lee brings knowledge of a diverse range of psychological constructs and research methods to the company and is keen to relate his skillset to experiences and activities in the consulting world.

    "It is great to have the opportunity to work with US2U Consulting and gain valuable professional experience while applying the learning from my degree in a dynamic, real-world environment. I look forward to returning to the UEA a more rounded individual, which should help with my longer term employability prospects" commented Lee.

    This positive news follows US2U Consulting being awarded the New Anglia LEP Youth Pledge Marque for the company's commitment to ensuring young people have opportunities to enter employment, training and education.

  • US2U Consulting attend unveiling of The Enterprise Centre at the University of East Anglia

    US2U Consulting were pleased to attend the opening of The Enterprise Centre at the University of East Anglia on Thursday 8th October.

    The Enterprise Centre comprises a number of carbon-neutral, locally-sourced materials including Thetford timber, Norfolk thatch, hemp and polished concrete, providing a range of economic and environmental benefits to make it one of the most sustainable buildings in Europe.

    It is anticipated that the Centre will help foster an increasingly entrepreneurial culture both among UEA students and across the region over the coming years.

    The event featured an inspirational talk by guest of honour Lord Bilimoria, a tour of the building and the unveiling of the Sir Brandon Gough lecture theatre.

    To celebrate providing ongoing great service to UEA staff and students, and their mutual commitment to a greener environment, Rachel Blackburn arrived in an ABC Taxis Eco Car (pictured).

  • US2U Consulting Goes Global

    Rachel Blackburn and John Miller from US2U Consulting spent a fascinating evening at the University of East Anglia (UEA) listening to how UK businesses should consider expanding into overseas markets.

    Talks from China-Britain Business Council, UK-India Business Council, Japan External and Internal Trade Organisations and UK Trade and Investment were interesting and highlighted the scope of opportunities beyond the UK. US2U Consulting has supported businesses in a range of international locations.

  • US2U Consulting Say Farewell to Summer Intern

    Since joining the team as a paid Summer Intern at the beginning of July, Lee Casey has fitted in as a valued member of the US2U Consulting team. Along the way, he has managed to squeeze in time for the Broadland Business Breakfast, Norfolk Chamber Roundtable Discussion, Norwich 4 Jobs Support Clubas well as learning How Millennials are Reshaping our World! It has been good that he has been able to attend a range of networking events and shadow Director Rachel Blackburn in a variety of client meetings.

    "It has been great to work with US2U Consulting over the past month as it has enabled me to gain valuable experience in a professional environment. I have learnt the importance of being adaptable and look forward to completing my degree confident in the knowledge that I can operate effectively in a real world consulting company" commented Lee.

    Lee now returns to the University of East Anglia for the final year of his Psychology BSc, with the aim of securing a graduate scheme position in the 2018 recruitment cycle.

    We are pleased to welcome a new Marketing Services and Client Coordinator intern to the US2U Consutling team - as Business Management student Jess Connolly joins us while completing the final year of her degree at the University of East Anglia.

    With her business degree, Jess has gained a thorough understanding of all aspects of business and aims to pursue a career in Management Consulting upon graduating. In order to utilise her knowledge, she wants to apply it in the real world and views US2U Consulting as an ideal platform for pursuing her goal.

    She is currently the Academic Representative for her university course, which has provided her with knowledge and skills that can be beneficial to the US2U team.

    Since Jess has had part-time jobs in hospitality for many years, she has developed the qualities of being a team-player and a motivated, organised individual, eager to learn and develop her current skills from US2U Consulting.
